The pros of a mouse is that it is responsive and is sensitive to movement compared to touchscreens, and are easy to use. It allows detailed movement on the monitor, and since all mice look similar and have same functions on each buttons(unless modified) anyone can use a given mouse at any time. Most of them do not require software and are usable once plugged into a computer or laptop, and buttons can also be customized via the software companies provide to customers. On the other hand, they are easy to break if handled roughly, and if something affects the lens the mouse uses, it has a great effect on the performance of the mouse. Also, because it can only be connected with a cord or via bluetooth, it is not suitable for outdoor machines such as ATMs since it can be stolen, or because the cord will break. Since optical and laser mice receive their information via the surface, they also are weak to surfaces that might not reflect light as much and some surfaces with a specific color.
